Puma's Pop Art Boots

Keep your eyes on the feet of Cesc Fabregas and Oliver Giroud during the international matches scheduled this weekend, as the two Premier League stars will be showcasing Puma's whacky new pop art boots.

The evoPOWER 1.2 boots feature comic strips complete with Batman '66 style "Pow!" and "Bam!" captions that will certainly turn heads.

Fabregas, who is presumably pleased to get away from the drama at Stamford Bridge for a few days and discuss anything but the rumours of him leading a dressing room rebellion, said:

"The graphics are so cool, and it actually feels like a little piece of art that I can wear on my feet."

Recently appointed Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp has been, for a few years now, in the headlines as one of the most exciting managers in the world of football. After leading Borussia Dortmund to two consecutive Bundesliga titles between 2010 and 2012, the German led his side to the UEFA Champions League final in 2013 and despite losing in the final to bitter rival FC Bayern Klopp-mania was in full swing. But his popularity has reached new heights just as much because of his persona as his talent as a bench-boss, and it's that image that makes him a popular subject for artists all around the world.

UK Football Heroes Postage Stamps

Art Director Dylan John has created some awesome ads for a collection of postage stamps that are designed with the faces of some of United Kingdom's biggest football stars. With the likes of George Best, Kevin Keegan and Bobby Charlton among others the collection in itself is impressive, but the advert is quite awesome as well.

Here is the project description in Dylan's words:
"We tried to add a little tone to some pretty dull stamps with a nostalgic nod back to football of old. We produced some press ads that also ran in football programmes. Also, during a specific match, we created an animation fans could see at half-time that used historical information about the very match they were watching."

#ArtistBasedShirts is a project that blew me away. Using teams and artists from a specific region, this projects merges the famous artwork of world famous painters into the design of football shirts for their local clubs or country jerseys.

Barcelona - Joan Miró

Catalan painter and sculpton Joan Miró was born in Barcelona in the late 1800's. In this project the creator uses one of Miró's many paintings.

Boca Juniors - Quinquela Martín

Argentine painter Benito Quinquela Martín was born in La Boca, Argentina. He was famous for painting the daily struggle of life at the La Boca port.

Netherlands - Vincent van Gogh

One of the most famous artists of all time, Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night is used for the Dutch outfit.

Malaga - Pablo Picasso

Malaga born cubist Pablo Picasso's Sylvette was the subject for his local club's outfit in this project.

New York Cosmos - Jackson Pollock

I personally like the fact that the creators of this project did not use the shirts of New York Red Bulls or New York City FC, but rather chose to use the Cosmos in conjunction of Pollock's Autumn Rhythm painting.

Paris Saint-Germain - Claude Monet

Fittingly, Paris born painter Claude Monet was used for the Paris Saint-Germain kits and using his painting The Rue Montorgueil the creators combined the French patriotism to the capital city club's shirts.

The Most Amazing English Football Map You'll Ever See!

We here at FootyFair love featuring artwork that is related to the world of football. Recently however, I have come across a project that absolutely blew my mind.

Designer Mark Crosby decided to get back to drawing after concentrating mostly on digital art.

"I've always enjoyed drawing, but I rarely sit down and do it. I've done a lot of work in the sports branding world, only some of it has seen the light of day. But I've taken a short break from that to get back to drawing."

And so with a pencil in his hand Mark incorporated the nicknames and symbols of 44 current and past English Premier League football clubs into the map of England in a project he calls Representative Map of the Premier League.

I finally got that sketch out and figured out a way to fit 7 clubs in London and another 37 on the rest of the country. After finally taking that big step and making a rough draft into a final product the pencil really flew across the paper. It took me about a week to complete it, working late into the night and watching far too much Frasier on Netflix.

And we're off! You can see my initial sketches to fit the map, as well as the Sunderland cat and Newcastle magpie.

Carlisle added - It took me a while to commit to the Carlisle addition. There's a lot of open space up there without the fox though, so I went ahead with it.

Middlesborough added

Man U, Leeds, Blackburn, Burnley, Hull added - Burnley is there all right, tiny little bee on the Blackburn rose.

Wigan, Bolton, Man City, Sheffield U, Sheffield Wed, Derby, Stoke added - Poor stoke.

Liverpool, Swansea, Wolverhampton, Watford added - As well as a nice Welsh dragon claw.

West Brom, Birmingham, Leicester, Tottenham Added - It took me a while do decide on something for Birmingham. I'm happy with the bluenosed Iron Giant. Also, COYS!

Ipswich, Norwich, West Ham Cardiff added.

Arsenal, Reading, Chelsea, Fulham, Swindon added - I hate that the Gooners cannon is so big, but it fits so perfectly. I wasn't going to put a lion for Reading because of the proximity to Chelsea. Instead I decided to put a younger, smaller lion for Reading.

Potato Quality QPR and Charlton added - QPR was another tough one. It's hard to find a fitting sigil for 'Rs' or 'Superhoops' so I went with Jude the Cat with a hooped collar.

Plymouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Crystal Palace added

I decided pretty late to add the lion from the EPL logo - I loved the way just the lion's face looked.

EPL lion - I think this is a pretty good depiction of the lion in the EPL logo

Like I said, late decision - There was no room to put the lion, so I drew is separately and added it after scanning.
